Margaret Elizabeth (Maggie) Docherty, 31, of Malta passed away on June 1, 2023 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, after fighting a brave, but brief battle with illness.

She was born on April 18, 1992 in Geneva to Daniel Docherty and Michele Mizanin Docherty. She worked at Suter Company in Sycamore as a Maintenance Documentation Specialist.

Maggie's proudest accomplishment and favorite role in life was being a devoted Mama to her daughter, Saoirse, who carries on her gentle caring nature and strong will.

Maggie is survived by her Fiancé, Scott "Snow-Drop" Chesser and her daughter, Saoirse "Sushi" Noah Docherty-Chesser (5). Parents, Dan & Jen Docherty; Sisters Krista and Anna; Sister, Lauren Docherty & nephew Cole Crockett; Grandparents, Jack & Jan Docherty; Gene & Tina Chesser, Courtney & Caedyn Chesser, Chris & Darien, Nolan and Adalyn Chesser; Aunts & Uncles: Kathy & Kevin Callaghan, Terry & Kevin Woods, David & Susan Docherty; Great-Aunt & Uncle Joyce Helander-Serafin and Jim Serafin.

She was preceded in death by Great-Grandparents Russell & Leda Helander; Roger & Geraldine Reeves.

Ginger since 1992, Maggie had a full head of red hair (not orange!) and a temper to match, although it took a lot to activate. She loved an inside joke and Maggie was fluent in sarcasm.  Maggie was a fan of many things and she took her fandoms very seriously; these included Harry Potter (Gryffindor), Game of Thrones (House Stark), New England Patriots, Chicago Cubs and the Blackhawks.

A proud Democrat, Maggie never shied away from engaging in healthy (sometimes heated) political debates. She had a big heart and was passionate about social justice. Always a brand loyalist, Maggie drank Starbucks and Coca-Cola and only used Apple products.

Maggie loved to cook, and throw elaborate themed dinners for family and friends. Music was a passion of hers. She also enjoyed reading, watching and rewatching her favorite t.v. shows, gardening and scolding Scott. Maggie loved spending time with her family and pets, especially cozying up with them around a bonfire or fireplace.The most fierce and loyal friend - she will be missed and cherished by all who were lucky to be close to her.

Maggie's informal Celebration of Life will be held outdoors on Thursday, June 8th beginning at 6:30 with a light meal, followed by a service at 3051 S 4th Street Dekalb, IL with Pastor Preston Fields of Salem Lutheran Church officiating.  Please bring your own lawn chairs or picnic blankets to sit".
