Margaret Mary Burrows, age 91, of Marengo, Illinois passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023 at her home on the family farm.

She was born October 14, 1931 in Ohio, IL to Virgil and Marguerite (Hersam) Underine Brown. Her father died when she was only 9 months old, so she was raised by her loving mother with her stepfather, Ernest Brown.

Margaret graduated from West Chicago High School in 1949. She then attended and graduated from National Lewis College with a Bachelors in Education. After graduating, she taught Kindergarten and after a few short years of teaching she became a librarian. She met Robert Burrows at a dance hall and they were married on February 8, 1964.  Margaret was raised Catholic, but converted to Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa after marrying Robert. They moved to the family farm in Marengo and started their family. She enjoyed living on the farm and helping her children with their 4-H animals and projects. She also enjoyed playing Pinochle with the Riley friends' card club and more recently playing Bingo in town.

Margaret was a sweet, loving, and caring mother. She will be greatly missed by her children, Margie (Doug) Tilstra, Max Burrows, and Barbara (Sean) Ehrlich; her grandchildren, Christopher (Virni) Tilstra, Joanna (Jake) Ellis, Callan and Cooper Ehrlich; her great-grandchildren, Eli and Evelyn; her niece, Diane (Dale) Herrmann; her great-niece, Tammy (Dennis) Vogt and their sons, Chase and Caden.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, who died on Sept. 15, 1998; her parents; and her brother, John Underine.

There will be a visitation from 9 to 11am on Saturday, March 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 33930 N State Rd, Genoa, IL 60135. The service will begin at 11am. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.

Interment will be at the Genoa Cemetery.
