Maggie Ellen Green (January 4, 2012 – November 29, 2023)

Maggie Green (11), of Sycamore, IL passed away in her home, her precious hands held tightly by her loving parents in the early morning hours of November 29, 2023. Maggie's death followed a courageous battle with pediatric cancer despite the ongoing and amazing efforts, care, and compassion of her entire medical team, family, friends, and community. As Maggie prepared to enter God's Kingdom, she was constantly surrounded by abundant love, faith, family, and her precious cat, Belle.

Maggie was born in Geneva, IL on January 4, 2012 to parents Warren and Nicole Green. She was welcomed home by her older sister Kendall(14), who she always looked up to and adored. Maggie had a great attitude and positive outlook on life(as long as it wasn't before 10am). While she was a homebody at heart, she also enjoyed spending time with friends and family, going to school, playing softball, traveling with her family, and competing with her dad and sister at Mario-Kart. Her favorite color was purple, and Maggie and her family were deeply moved at the show of support with purple lights displayed by her family, friends, the wonderful community of Sycamore, and many others beyond. Maggie had a life-long love of animals, especially cats, as evidenced by her time volunteering as a "cat socializer" at Tails Humane Society. She was an avid collector of Hello Kitty, and never met a piece of jewelry she didn't love. Her quick wit and dry sense of humor immediately drew people to her, adults and children alike. At times she could be a little sassy, but she always had the kindest heart. She was a wonderful friend, niece, cousin, granddaughter, and especially sister and daughter. While she always strived to be at her coziest, she never ceased to prioritize her loved ones' needs above her own. She had dreams of one day becoming a pediatric oncology nurse because she wanted to provide care, support, and encouragement to children fighting cancer. She knew that her experience fighting the disease could inspire hope for others. Maggie was simply everyone's favorite.  Her bright smile and amazing hugs will forever be missed by those who were lucky enough to receive them. Even though Maggie's life faded far too early, the light she brought into this world will shine on forever.

A visitation to honor Maggie will be held from 11:30am – 3:30pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Salem Lutheran Church, 1145 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore, IL 60178.

Cal's Angels is a local pediatric cancer foundation with a mission of granting wishes, raising awareness, and funding research to help kids fighting cancer. They have been instrumental in Maggie's journey.
