Lowell Orval Evans (85) died peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at the DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.  He was born May 29, 1935, in a farmhouse between Genoa and Hampshire, Illinois, to parents Wilma (Bottcher) and Orval Evans.

Lowell attended Sycamore High School, graduating in 1953. He attended the University of Illinois, Northern Illinois University, and graduated from the Dale Carnegie Sales School in Chicago.

Lowell married Carol Brejcha on August 23, 1958, in Berwyn, Illinois, and lived in Sycamore his entire married life.  Lowell worked for Whiting Door Company, Akron, New York, for 39 years and was the Sales Manager for the Midwest territory.  He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saint John in Sycamore. Lowell served as Chairman of the church counsel and many committees. He was a past member of the City of Sycamore Planning Commission and the DeKalb County Nursing Home Foundation.

Lowell enjoyed watching all sports and was fortunate to attend a World Series game, Indianapolis 500 race, the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, and many NCAA regional basketball games.  He loved cars, especially his dune buggy, which he spent many hours working on with his grandson Evan.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Carol (Brejcha) Evans; three daughters:  Linda (Dave) VanBuren, Donna (Brad) Weber, and Sandra (Jeff) Foord; seven grandchildren:  Brian (Stephanie) VanBuren, John (Scott Humphrey) VanBuren, Elizabeth (Andy) Maratto, Hayley Foord, Dylan Foord, Marc Thompson, and Evan Thompson; five great-grandchildren:  Madison, Harper and Beckham VanBuren, Avery Maratto, and Everett Humphrey-VanBuren.  He is also survived by his twin sister, Lois Tallitsch and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Harris, a son-in-law, Chuck Ormond, parents, Orval and Wilma (Bottcher) Evans, in-laws, Emil and Eleanor (Michal) Brejcha, and grandparents, Martha and Alfred Evans and Mary and Fred Bottcher.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be no visitation.  A private graveside service will be held for the family on December 29 ^th at Elmwood Cemetery, with Pastor Paul G. Mumme officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Stained-Glass fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saint John, 26555 Brickville Road, Sycamore, Illinois 60178. Arrangements were completed by the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. 60178.
