Loretta Rita Filippin, 86, resident of Cortland IL. died Monday, July 3, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on September 20, 1936 in Chicago, IL to Philip and Constance (Porto) Aiello. She was married to William (Bill) Filippin on January 28, 1956.
She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in DeKalb.
Loretta and her husband were previous residents of Fountain Hills, AZ. She was a wonderful homemaker and loving mother. She prided herself with having an excellent memory.
Loretta was a Sunday school superintendent, hosted weekly Bible studies, was in prayer groups, on a visitation team and active in a crocheting club. She worked as a hostess in an executive dining room which she very much enjoyed.
Loving her family and preparing holiday dinners was something she looked forward to every season. She also kept busy with crocheting, reading, cooking, shopping and being around friends with her contagious smile. Loretta adored all variety of flowers- but especially roses. She was "one tough Sicilian."
Survivors include her children, Daniel (Janet), Bill (Joanna), Cathy, Richard (Toni), Laura (Dane), Thomas and Jennifer (Gary); her grandchildren, Daniel, Steve, Michelle, Jason, Amy, Christie, Brian, Angela, Gina, Denise, Jonathan, Rachel, Joshua, Stacy, Melissa and Sarah; her great grandchildren, Malori, Brooks, Bodhe, Jonathan, Neil, Allexyss, Isabelle, Lilliann, Douglas, Ethan, Olivia, Trevor, Oliver, Lorelai, Ava, Anna, Lewin, Myla, Benjamin, Amelia, Elijah, Maisie and another great granddaughter, Adeline Colette coming soon; and great-great grandchildren Genesis and Jr.
Her visitation will be on Saturday, July 8th from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Jude Hospital for children (www.stjude.org) in care of the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. 60178.
