Linda C. Cornell, 79, died on October 19, 2022 at the Pine Acres Care Center in DeKalb.

She was born on August 14, 1943 in Sycamore, IL to Arden and Kathryn (Carroll) Cornell.

Linda attended the schools in Genoa and graduated in 1961.  She attended a Medical Technical School in Minneapolis, MN.  After graduation she got a job at the Dixon State Hospital working in their medical laboratory.  She worked there a few years.

She eventually moved to Belvidere, IL and worked in the laboratory at the Belvedere Sewage Treatment Plant for over 20 years before retiring.  She moved near Delavan, WI and worked in the laboratory at their Sewage Treatment Plant for 5 years.  Once her mother passed away in 2006, she decided to move to Summerville, SC to be closer to her daughter, Melinda, and her granddaughter, Arden.  She lasted two years until the oppressive heat and humidity drove her back to WI.

She loved to sew.  She loved to take t-shirts and make quilts out of them.  They were works of art, because Linda was very talented when it came to sewing.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Melinda McNeil, Vance, SC; son, Scott, MI; granddaughter, Arden McNeill, Charleston, SC; grandsons, Bryar Wilson of Cherry Point, NC and Chase Wilson of Knoxville, TN; brother, Michael Cornell, Concord, CA and sister, Teresa Cornell, Monroe, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arden and Kathryn Cornell and brother, Tracey Cornell

There will be a memorial celebration for Linda Cornell on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main Street in Genoa from 2:00-3:00pm. The Loves Park Eastern Star will lead a service at 3:00 for about 20 minutes. Following this, family & friends are invited to Lori's home for refreshments.

A memorial has been established for the Barn of Baseline in care of the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL 60135.
