Lawrence T.
Kendzora
d. May 28, 2023
Lawrence T. Kendzora, 74, of Maple Park, passed away on May 28, 2023.
He was born in Chicago to Leroy and Lorraine (Zajicek) Kendzora. His family, including his brother Paul, spent most of his childhood in Downers Grove. In the early 70s, he married the love of his life Susan and began a job at Sycamore Containers. Larry and Sue loved Sycamore's sense of community and decided to raise their family there. The family was everything to Larry, and he is survived by his daughters Lauren (Jeff) Boryc and Melissa (Ryan) Smith, his four beloved grandchildren Jackson, Timmy, Louise, Charlie, and furry friends: Lincoln and Beezus.
Larry enjoyed coaching his daughters in softball in his spare time. He loved athletics, including spending time with his friends and family on the golf course. Once retired, he devoted his time to watching his grandkids in all their endeavors and became a constant spectator of all their sports.
He believed in giving back to the community and volunteered as a board member in the Kishwaukee Education Consortium and the DeKalb County Economic Development Corporation. While at Sycamore Containers, he was a mentor and confidante to many people. He'll never know how many lives he impacted in their professional, financial, and personal life. He was an advocate of employing Opportunity House residents for many years. He was highly respected and regarded by numerous employees and business associates in the corrugated box business across the country.
He leaves behind a family and community who will miss him but will cherish his memory forever. Per Larry's wishes and request, in place of flowers, memorials can be made to the TAILS Humane Society in DeKalb or Oaken Acres Wildlife Center in Sycamore.
Per the family's request, services and burial will be private.
