Kevin David Schmoll
May 25, 1957 – July 26, 2024
Kevin David Schmoll, 67, of Sycamore, IL, passed away suddenly on July 26, 2024, at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. He was born on May 25, 1957, in Minneapolis, MN, to Wallace and Ramona (Mott) Schmoll.
Kevin graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Bloomington, MN, in 1975. He pursued higher education at Normandale Community College and the University of Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Throughout his life, Kevin embraced a variety of roles and experiences. He enjoyed driving a school bus, inspiring young athletes as a junior tennis coach, and working alongside his dad and brothers in the family business from 1989 to 2008. Kevin's diverse career path reflected his adventurous spirit and willingness to embrace new challenges.
Kevin was known for his kindness and great sense of humor, which brought joy and laughter to those around him. He had a passion for golf, tennis, and pheasant hunting. Yet, perhaps what brought him the greatest joy was his time with his two golden retrievers, Wilson and Winston. They were more than pets—they were his loyal companions and a constant source of comfort and happiness. The bond he shared with them was profound and reflected his deep love for the simple, genuine moments in life.
He is survived by his four siblings: Mike Schmoll (Sue), Greg Schmoll (Kathy), Jackie Gunstad (Brad), and Dave Schmoll (Karen). He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews and their families, including Jenny Niemer (Doug), Shelley Gyldenvand (Ryan), Sarah Schmoll (Jeremy Liebhaber), Mary Hall (Matt), Andy Schmoll (Colleen), Jack Schmoll (Mollie), Tom Gunstad (Lindsey), Jill Farley (Jim), Lisa Crutcher (Carlin), and Lori Strain.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Wally and Ramona Schmoll, and his cherished companions, Wilson and Winston.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a preferred animal shelter in Kevin's name.
