Kenneth M. "Kenny" Weinstock, 78, of Sycamore, IL died April 16, 2025 at NW Medicine- Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.

He was born on December 8, 1946 in Elmhurst, IL to Charles Raymond and Frances Dorothy (Prokopensky) Weinstock.  He married Joyce (Becker) Brooks on August 8, 1999.

Kenny graduated from Willowbrook High School in Villa Park.  After high school he joined the Union and became a Union Pipefitter.  Later he decided he wanted to get his plumbing license also, so he completed that training too.

He then became a teacher for the young men going through their apprenticeships.  Classes were at night at the Union Hall, so he was a very busy guy!

Ken's work ethic was exceptional.  He was a firm believer in hard work, an honest day's work and being the perfectionist he was- took great pride in his work.

Kenny was an avid fisherman.  He loved his Lake Erie trips, his Florida trips and most of all his favorite- Lake Geneva, where he fished all of his life since he was a boy.  After he retired he enjoyed fishing in Canada and scheduled as many trips as he could.  Loved those Shore Lunches!

Ken liked horse racing.  He had an exceptional knowledge of horse trainers, horse breeding, betting odds, etc.  He loved going to Arlington Racetrack and visited other tracks in the states.  He even spent his honeymoon in New York at Saratoga Race Course- which was his favorite.  Later on with new technology, he found he could bet horses on pretty much any track around the world.  Now he could bet right from home on the computer!  He had a lot of fun with that!

Since childhood, Ken always loved trains and it became his passion.  When he retired, he was able to set up a pretty good size train layout in the basement and enjoyed having grandchildren and neighbor's grandchildren over to run it.  He slowly added to his collection and it was a continuous work in progress.

Kenny was the cook in the house.  He loved cooking and grilling.  No frills, he was just a meat and potatoes man!  He loved growing his own tomatoes, peppers, etc. for summer salads and, of course, his favorite BLTs!

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two sons, Charles "Chuck" Weinstock and Richard "Rick" (Jeanne) Weinstock; two daughters, Danielle (Michael) Reed and Rebecca "Becky" Weinstock; two step daughters, Dawn (Tom) Morrow and Wendy (Mike) Kullas; eight grandchildren, Joseph "Joey" Weinstock, Charlene Weinstock, Christian George, Serena George, Jeffery Morrow (Fiancé Lauren), Jessica Morrow (Fiancé Tony), Samantha (Josh) Sanderson, and Matthew Kullas (Fiancé Jordan); one great granddaughter, Olivia Sanderson; one brother, Gerard Francis "Jerry" (Marge) Weinstock; and one sister, Mary Grace (Weinstock) Loar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances Weinstock; and two brothers, Charles Raymond "Ray" Weinstock and Paul Victor Weinstock.

His visitation will be on Tuesday, May 6, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman St, Sycamore, IL 60178.  His funeral mass will begin at 11:00 AM, with Father Etheredge officiating.

A luncheon will follow the mass at Sorrento's Restaurant, 50W187 IL-64, Maple Park, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Church of St. Mary, Sycamore, IL.
