Kenneth E. Keleher, age 80, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at his home in Sycamore, IL, surrounded by his loving family.

Ken was born on July 12, 1944, in Elizabeth, Illinois, to Charles and Emma (Nolan) Keleher. The youngest of 10 children, he was raised on the family farm, where he learned the values of hard work and teamwork by helping with chores like milking cows and working in the fields alongside his older siblings.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ken had a special passion for golf. He treasured attending PGA events and followed the sport closely. He was also a devoted fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, faithfully cheering them on both in person and at home—often with his favorite Waterford glass filled with Lord Calvert close at hand.

Ken was known for his competitive spirit at the euchre table and, according to many, for being an exceptional dancer. He deeply valued his friendships and was happiest when surrounded by family. A dedicated community member, Ken gave generously of his time and energy to various causes, most notably through the DeKalb County Community Foundation, where the Keleher Family Endowment continues his legacy of service.

A proud veteran, Ken served in both the U.S. Army and the National Guard. He was a longtime member of the Sycamore Elks Club, the Sycamore VFW, and the American Legion in Venice, Florida.

He is survived by his children: Lora (David) Krueger, Amy Gehant (Brian), Kathlene (Maxwell) Bradfield, Tim Hooker, Brian J. Hooker, and Tim Keleher; his grandchildren: Anthony (Ashton) Windt, Timothy (Krizzele) Windt, Nicholas Krueger, Logan (Brianna) Gehant, Benjamin Gehant, Mason Bradfield, Elanor Bradfield, Brittany Knudtson, and Jimmy Hooker; two great-grandsons, Jackson and Harrison Windt; his siblings Vernon, Charlene, and Regina; numerous nieces and nephews; and his lifelong best friend, Jim (Brigid) Gassaway.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Mary, John, Clarence, Emmet, Marlin, and Kate.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 227 S. Bench Street in Galena, IL. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
