Kathleen Ann Stark Schramer, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 31, 2025, after lengthy, courageous battles with both Alzheimer's disease and Gorlin Syndrome.

Born August 10, 1944, to Elmer and Patricia Stark, she was raised on a small farm in unincorporated Wheaton with older brother, Gerald, and 3 younger sisters, Donna (Ray) Pattermann, Janet (Perry) Miciunas and Patricia (Mike) Kuropas.  She went to Wheaton Central High School, class of 1962 where she met and later married the love of her life, Warren Schramer, on November 7, 1964.

After moving several times in the early years of their marriage, they spent 20 years on a large farm in unincorporated West Chicago, where they raised their 3 sons, livestock and pets.  Though she was often the only female on the farm, she led by example.  She was strong enough, physically and in spirit, to keep everyone in line, cooking dinner, fighting skin cancer frequently and helping with the farm chores.  She worked at various jobs, ranging from veterinary and doctor assistant to data entry operator with her son, Dan. In her free time, she enjoyed county fairs, needlepoint and collecting rosaries and Merry Moo Moo figurines.  Between the farm life & the figurine collection, she became affectionately known as Nana Moo Moo to her grandchildren. She loved county fairs so much, she became a 4-H group leader and co-chaired both the DuPage County Fair Livestock auction and DuPage County Farm Bureau Women's committee.  In 1991, being empty nesters and still wanting the serenity of the country and farm life, she and Warren moved to a small farm in Stillman Valley and retired.  With her warm generous personality, she quickly became a welcomed, popular and cherished member to the community.

Kathy dedicated her life to family first and provided a warm, fun and nurturing love.  Her big heart, listening ear, dynamic sense of humor and sage advice made her a beloved confidante and friend.  While she always had a sweet personality, it was her sweet tooth that became legendary, specifically her homemade chocolate chip cookies, scalloped pineapple and chocolate chip pancakes.  Scalloped pineapple is now mandatory at all family gatherings.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Warren Schramer, their 3 sons, Dan (Kelly Gaffor), Ron (Cathy) and Shawn (Yvonne) Schramer, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and her 2 sisters, Janet (Perry) Miciunas and Patty (Mike) Kuropas.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, at Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore, Illinois from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.  Prayer services will be provided from 4:00 - 4:30 pm. Visitation will be from 4:30 – 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Gorlin Syndrome Alliance.
