Karl Dennis Schwarz, 75, of Sycamore, IL, formerly of Hoffman Estates, died on Monday, November 13, 2023 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 15, 1948 in Chicago, IL to the late Julius C. and Shirley Mae (Hansen) Schwarz and was raised in Glenview, IL.
Karl was a loving husband, devoted father, son, grandson, brother and brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. He lived a fulfilling life of many varied interests and hobbies including carpentry, music, motorcycles, family time and had a great sense of humor and likable personality. He followed in his family's footsteps by becoming a carpenter working in many facets of the trade. Karl was creative, talented, and could build and fix just about anything even without instructions. After he retired from the Carpenters Union, he began a ten year, part time career in Transportation with High School District 211 and enjoyed his role as a bus driver.
Karl was a talented musician who loved playing his accordion starting at the age of 10 for both family and friends. He also played the piano and organ. His passion for music was a true love of his life, second only to his love for his wife and daughters. He also loved motorcycle riding with his wife, occasionally taking his daughters and grandchildren for a ride. He was a handyman, a jack of all trades. He loved Chicago sports teams, especially the White Sox and Bears.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley K. Schwarz; daughters, Cindy (Dan) Jordan and Melanie (Pete) Kaczmar; grandchildren, Bryan (14), Benjamin (11), Lily (9), and Allison (7); sisters, Nancy (Mike) Meyer, Tammie (John) Nusstein, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His visitation will be held, Friday, November 24th at Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave, Sycamore, IL from 3:00-8:00 p.m.
