Karen S. Mitchell, 76, of Kingston died December 23, 2024 at her home.

She was born on August 10, 1948 to Charles and Ruby (Miskell) Scidmore in Dekalb, IL.

She was a graduate of Dekalb High School. She married Mark Mitchell, March 30, 1968.  They made their home and raised their children in Genoa, where Karen is remembered by many as a Girl Scout Leader, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a caring babysitter.  She worked at Falls Products, Videos 4Less, McDonald's and Pete's Castle.

Karen loved being creative and tried her hand at all sorts of crafts.  She sewed, painted and baked many wonderful things for her family and friends. She did many paintings over the last several years and enjoyed giving them to people as a way to remember her.  She has passed her talent and love of creating to her family.

Her family is her greatest accomplishment.  She will be missed by her husband, Mark and her children, Mitzi (Steve) Lavender, Clinton "Duke" (Sandy) Mitchell, Nickolas (Robin) Mitchell, and Joshua (Erin) Mitchell.  Grandchildren, Alicia (Jeremy) Singer, Samantha (Derrick) Head, Kiearah, Hawke, Ian, Killian, and Jasmine Mitchell.  Great-Grandchildren, Sawyer and Lorelei Head and Baby Singer on the way.

The Mitchell family would like to express our gratitude to Unity Hospice of Rochelle, Il and the nurses who have so graciously cared for Karen and helped us along the way, most especially Megan.

A Celebration of Karen's life will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 1pm to 4pm at the Genoa Veterans Home, 311 S. Washington St., Genoa, IL 60135.
