Julie C. Kaelin 54, of West Brooklyn Illinois, passed away Tuesday April 25, 2023 at Central DuPage Hospital of cancer complications. She was surrounded by loved ones.

Julie was born July 3rd 1968 to Ramon Contreras and Sandra Contreras nee (Garcia) in DeKalb, Illinois. She was a graduate of DeKalb high School. She was employed at Northern Illinois University as a Building Service worker for close to 30 years where she met her husband Herb.

Julie was a member of St Mary of The Assumption Catholic Church, West Brooklyn. She was an avid supporter of Disabled American Veterans, St Labra Indian School, and The Illinois State Police Association. She enjoyed being with her family, walks in the woods, football, unicorns and everything purple.

Julie is survived by her husband Herb, stepfather Alfonso (Judy) Contreras, sister Paula Contreras, brothers Brandon (Sara) Contreras, and Peter (Jeanette) Contreras. Daughters Vanessa (Jose Jimenez) Vargas, Phoenix Arizona, Aryelle Vargas, DeKalb Illinois, Chalise (Felix Juan Alvarez) Contreras, Creston Illinois, Katja Kaelin, Bloomington Indiana, sons Devan (Kaitlyn) Contreras,  DeKalb Illinois, Jacob Kaelin, Rochelle Illinois; grandchildren Alex, Maya, Evelio, Steven, EJ, Felix (Leo), Isabela, Adalena, Ronaldo, Beléna, Elicia, Donte, Zaylie; as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Julie is preceded in death by her parents, and brother Raymond Contreras.

Visitation will be held Tuesday May 2nd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.

A Religious services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3rd at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 201 Locust St., Sublette IL.
