It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, fiancé, and friend, Juan "Juanito" Angel Gasca, 25, of Genoa, on Monday, April 6th, 2026.

Juan was born in DeKalb, Illinois, on November 12th, 2000, to his beloved parents, Jose and Maria  Gasca. Juan was their only son; they loved him with all their heart. Juan was so grateful to his parents for everything they did for him throughout his life.

Juan was the oldest of his siblings. He had three sisters, Paola, Jennifer, and Jocelin, whom he loved so much, wanted the best for, and always supported. He loved being a big brother.

Juan met the love of his life, Leyah Langley, in 2019, and they spent seven wonderful years together. He proposed to her on August, 19th, 2025, and was so excited to spend the rest of his life with her. He loved her with his whole heart.

Juan had so many friends that he cared for. He loved doing activities with them, like fishing, hunting, golfing, and playing pool at Hill's Tap. He was a great friend to all.

Juan always enjoyed cooking for his friends, family, and coworkers. He loved to try new recipes and techniques on his smoker. Juan made the most wonderful meals for the ones he loved.

Juan attended Genoa-Kingston High School, where he participated in football and baseball. Baseball was his favorite sport. He attended KEC and fell in love with firefighting. He then became an EMT and later worked at various departments, including Kirkland, Malta, Huntley, and Genoa.

Juan furthered his education and became a paramedic, and began his career as a firefighter/paramedic at the DeKalb Fire Department. He spent 4 years in this department making so many new brothers and sisters that he loved deeply and built a strong bond with them. He always enjoyed teaching kids about fire safety and being a part of the AFFI Honor Guard.

His funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:30 AM at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott Street, Genoa, IL.  Burial will follow the mass at the St. Catherine Cemetery in Genoa.
Through every laugh, every quick-witted joke, every piece of honest advice, and every moment of unwavering strength, you've been more than just reliable—you've been the kind of best friend with a heart that makes life brighter just by being in it
