John P. Mompier, 83, of Genoa, IL. died on October 6, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Elk Grove Village.
He was born on March 20, 1939 in Chicago to Genevieve Kedzior Mompier. John was raised by his mother, Genevieve and Lester Mompier in Glenview, IL.
John was a veteran and proud to serve his country in the U.S. Marines. He was worked in sales for many years and then worked in freight logistics operations at Lodisco in Elk Grove Village, until the age of 81.
His enjoyment was watching the Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, listening to Blues music and doing crossword puzzles. He was an avid Chicago sports enthusiast. He especially liked cheering for the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his 2 daughters, Kimberly Mompier (fiance, Drew Catania) and Denise McDowell and her 3 children, Steffini, Colton and Madyson; his loving family friend (like a daughter)- Leeann Nolan; Jamie Mompier and her daughters, Kiley Meyer and Kris Friedli.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Steffini Mompier and his sister, Barbara Johnston.
His visitation will be on Wednesday, October 12th from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home of Genoa, IL.
A private burial will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Thursday.
