John Caldwell, 92, of Genoa died on November 4, 2025 in Poplar Grove, IL.

He was born on October 17, 1933 in Sycamore, IL to Leroy and Gwendolyn (Aimone) Peterson.

John was a machine shop owner (Calrey Industries) with a passion for hobbies that exceeded his passion for work.  From an early age, John's curiosity was focused on how things worked.  He was a master builder, applying his skills to construct both boats and airplanes from scratch. His passion matched only by the thrill of using them.  He enjoyed motorcycles, racing speedboats, remote control airplanes, sailboats, houseboats, experimental airplanes, house builder and sailplanes.  His self-reliance and ingenuity were an inspiration to all who knew him.

Survivors include 4 children, William (Rita) Caldwell, Steven (Kaye) Caldwell, James (Diana) Caldwell and Carrie (Jeff) Tucker; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and his brother, Bruce Peterson.

A private graveside will be held at a later date at the Genoa Cemetery.
