Joanne Scaletta, 90, of Sycamore died on October 13, 2024 at her home.

She was born and raised in Chicago, IL. by her parents, Eugene and Lilian Leonardi.

Joanne would go on to graduate from Trinity college and she took classes at University of Illinois. One day, at the horse stable she took lessons, she would meet her longtime husband, Samuel Scaletta. After living in the city, she called Wheaton home before moving to Sycamore, IL. Joanne had a passion for many animals and spent time raising and showing German Shepherds. Later on, she spent a lot of time quilting and creating blankets, hats and scarves for her entire family.

Joanne was a volunteer at the hospital for many years  Driving her Welsh pony Hilda was one of her favorite pastimes and she was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, British TV, and spending time with her friends.

She is joining her parents, her husband, Samuel; her brothers, Dennis and Eugene, her daughter, Jodi and her son, Sam.

Joanne is survived by her children, Betsy, Larry, Mary and Sharon; her grandkids, Brittany, Jake, Lauren, Kalyn, Kolton, Gina, Nick and Sam and her great grandkids, Adrien, Noah, Mireya and Olivia.

Joanne Scaletta will forever be remembered and the effect she had on our lives will forever be cherished.

Her visitation will be on Friday, October 18th from 9:00 AM-10:30 AM at the Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman St. in Sycamore.  Her funeral mass will begin at 10:30 AM with Fr. William Etheredge officiating.  Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore.
