Jessie Lavender, 91, of Genoa, IL went to meet her Lord on September 21, 2025.

She was born on October 28, 1933 to Matt and Lottie Cyrus in St. Albans, WV.

Jessie worked as an inspector at A.G. Communications in Genoa for 25 years.

She was one of the first members of the Foursquare Church in Genoa, now the CrossWind Community Church in Genoa, where she loved singing in the worship group.

She married the love of her life, Bill Lavender of St. Albans, WV on May 30, 1951.

Jessie is survived by her 4 children, Mike (Bernie) Lavender of Benton, KY, Kathy (Steve Fowler) Swinson, Tammy (Dan) Bacon, Steve (Mitzi) Lavender all of Genoa, IL; daughter-in-law, Colleen Lavender of Sycamore, IL; one step-son, Mitch Lavender of Atlanta, GA; 9 grandchildren, Brian (Mindy Mason) Lavender, Duane Suddeth, Jacki Suddeth, Tammy (Jeff) Engel, Anthony (Leslie) Swinson, Chris (Megan) Bacon, William (Samantha) Lavender, Alicia (Jeremy) Singer and Samantha (Derrick) Head; 18 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Bonnie Lavender; her granddaughter, Erica; her parents,  three sisters and one brother.

The family would like to extend their thanks and love to Jessie's wonderful neighbors- Jim, Nikki Wallace and daughters, along with Mike and Rhonda Evers.  Our gratitude also to the Genoa Kingston Rescue Squad, the DeKalb Co. Rehab and Nursing Center nurses and and staff and the Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care.

Her visitation will be on Thursday, September 25th from 10:00-11:00 AM  at CrossWind Community Church, 13100 Cherry Road, Genoa,IL.

Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be at the Genoa Cemetery.

Following the graveside service, there will be a luncheon at the CrossWind Community Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions can be made out to the Genoa Kingston Rescue Squad in Jessie's name.
