Jesse J. Avila, 83, of Genoa died Sunday, June 14, 2020 at the Revere Court of Crystal Lake.

He was born December 20, 1936 in Chicago to Jose and Maria (Vasquez) Avila.   He was married to Jarlath (Flaws) Avila, his childhood sweetheart and was very happily married for 57 years.

One of Jesse's first jobs was a driver for La Preferida Foods in Chicago.  He would often talk about that job even as a senior.  Jesse was in can manufacturing most of his life.  First at Libby's can division then Sherwin-Williams and later U.S. Can company.  He was always a hard worker, rising to plant manager and was indispensable to the company for years, finally retiring in 2004.

Jesse loved to golf.  His idols were Lee Trevino and Chi Chi Rodriguez.  Jesse loved the Chicago Cubs. He also loved to fix things around the house and garden and work on cars .

Survivors include his sister, Connie Avila. Sons, Michael and Steven (wife Daria) and daughters, Denise Metzger (husband Carl) and Andrea Avila (fiancé Daniel Hickey).  Grandchildren include, Kenneth Trent (wife Tara), Vanessa, Sarah Culver (husband Tony), Stephanie Perez (husband Ariel), David Avila (wife Lindsay), Michelle Avila and Nicole Trent.  Great grandchildren, Miabella, Amara, Ava, Tinker Bell, Donovan, Cameron, Evelyn, Violetta, Alejandro, Romeo, Sophia, Ayven, Zane and Eva and his great friend, Angel Semprit.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Juanita. He will finally be reunited with the love of his life, Jarlath Flaws Avila, his loving wife.

His Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements were completed by the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, Sycamore, IL.
