Jerry R. Lorensen, 75, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Genoa died suddenly on Monday, July 12, 2021.

He was born on May 16, 1946 in Rockford, IL. to Harry and Marie (Tutland) Lorensen.

Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a MP in Vietnam.

Over his 46 years of employment, he worked for Anaconda Wire Company in Sycamore, IL, Milk Specialties in Huntley, IL and most recently before his retirement in 2013 The First National Bank of McHenry.

His hobbies included spending time with his children and grandchildren.  In Jerry's early adulthood, he enjoyed coaching youth baseball, umpiring baseball games and refereeing basketball games.  Jerry also attended high school and college sporting events including season tickets to NIU Men's basketball games.  Being an avid follower of high school and college athletes and athletic programs.  He also watched the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls games.  One of Jerry's crowning achievements was that he was inducted into the 2016 Genoa-Kingston Hall of Fame for all of his achievements in high school sports.

Survivors include his daughter, Courtney (Robby) Bottcher of Kirkland, IL; his son, Clark (Lauren) Lorensen of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren Jarred Jones, Coby Bottcher, Kendall Bottcher, Hazel Lorensen, Vera Lorensen; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; his sister, Rita Lorensen; 2 brothers, Richard and Arnold Gene Lorensen; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Lorensen.

His Visitation will be on Sunday, July 18th from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL.  A luncheon will follow at 5 PM at the American Legion in Genoa, IL.

Burial will be at a later date.

Memorials can be made to Northern Illinois Veteran's Memorial & the Genoa-Kingston High School Athletic Department, in care the Slater-Butala Funeral Home.  If you choose to send a memorial to the funeral home, please include the family name, Lorensen, on the front of the envelope.
