Jeremiah Lynch, 91, of Maple Park, IL entered into eternity on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.

Jerry was born on December 7, 1927 in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Ireland to James and Bridget (Flannery) Lynch.  He grew up in Knockahopple where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father. Jerry's passion was hurling, the national sport of Ireland. He played right corner-back on the Tipperary team and earned many medals. In addition, as captain he was awarded the W.P. Hennessy trophy for the All American Hurling Series in 1957.

Jerry considered emigrating to Australia but his father convinced him to come to America in 1953. Jerry settled in Chicago where he met his future wife, Guadalupe Alamo, at a Legion of Mary meeting. They were married on October 6th, 1962 at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Chicago, IL. He continued playing hurling in Chicago for the Harry Boland's team.

In 1975, Jerry and Lupe moved to Maple Park with their six children. Their home was filled with faith, family, friends, love, laughter, music, animals, a roaring fire and many cups of tea at the kitchen table.

He is preceded in death by his father, mother and sister Margaret (Peg).

He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe; six children: Margaret (Adam) Friend of Australia, Loretta Lynch of Cortland, IL, Pauline (Alan) Voges of CA, James Lynch of Maple Park, IL, Eileen (Eric) Nelson of Batavia, IL and Daniel (Maria) of Montrose, CO; 14 grandchildren: Christian Maurer, Tristan Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Kathleen Nelson, Jacqueline Nelson, Brendan Voges, Liam Voges, Colin Voges, Francis Voges, Joseph Lynch, Samuel Lynch,  Helen Lynch, Jude Lynch and baby Lynch.

His visitation will be on Saturday, Dec.7th from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 123 S. County Line Road, Maple Park, IL.  The recitation of the rosary will be at 11:00 AM.

His funeral mass will begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday at the Church with burial to follow at the St. Mary Cemetery in Maple Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that a Mass be said for the repose of his soul.
