Janet L. Gillespie, 88, of Sandwich, IL died February 28, 2025 at NW Medicine-Kishwaukee Hospital.

She was born on March 7, 1936 in Chicago to Dr. Fred and Lillian (Hinrichs) Bazola.  She married Richard Gillespie in 1979.

Janet was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  Janet was a avid reader, card player, gardener and cook.  She liked to crochet beautiful gifts for her family and go fishing with her husband.  She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her son Steve (Angie) Copeland; daughter Dawn (Dave) Siebrasse; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Rich; daughter Sheryl (Copeland) Link; sister Marilyn Kandybe; and 2 granddaughters Catherine Hasenbuhler and Jennifer Golz.

Her visitation will be on Thursday, March 6th from 10:00-11:30 AM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. 60178.

The funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM with Rev. Gary Roca officiating.  A private burial will be at the Crystal Lake Memorial Park Cemetery in Crystal Lake, IL.
