James E. Simmons, 78, of DeKalb, IL died on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022 at Kishwaukee Northwestern Hospital.
He was born on February 1st, 1944 in Ottumwa, IA to James Simmons, Jr. and Leora Lorraine Milton. Jim is married to Cora Simmons in December 2017 in Missouri.
Jim worked at STT as a security guard since November 2019.
He loved to play basketball, bowling, golf, softball and baseball in which he and his team Ottumwa American Legion won the 1960 Iowa state champs, second in district play in Bismark North Dakota.
Jim is survived with his wife, Cora Simmons and 6 daughters, Debra (Mark) Volmer, Tina (Joel) Bernson, Jordan (Erich) Pulda, Rebecca Simmons, Olivia Simmons and Blessing Grace Joy; 2 brothers, Robert (Janet) Simmons and David (Dianne) Simmons; his grandchildren, Matthew (Narielle) Volmer, Kyle (Jessalin) Volmer, Tiffany (Zeke) Howard, Michael Howard and Brittney (Leo) Armenta; great grandchildren, Tyler, Daemyn, Rhyker, Caeden, Addison and Riley and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by James Simmons, Jr., Leora Lorraine Milton-Simmons and David Simmons.
His memorial visitation will be on Saturday, October 22 from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.
A memorial service will begin at 4:00 PM.
