James Justis, Jr., 83, of Genoa, IL. died on November 8, 2023 at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago.

He was born on March 8, 1940 in Greene County, TN. to James and EmmaLou (Fair) Justis, Sr.  He married Bonnie L. Listy on June 6th, 1959.

Jim graduated high school in 1958 from Baileyton High School in Greene County, TN. After graduation he moved to Illinois where he was employed by DelMonte in DeKalb, IL. He then worked at Diamond Wire and Cable Company in Sycamore, IL. Following his time there he worked at Cornell Forge for 35 years when he then retired as forge shop supervisor on March 17th, 1995. After his retirement he went to work for Walcamp in Kingston, IL.

Jim was an avid collector of many things. When he was not at an auction, garage sale or flea market you could find Jim helping others in need or sitting in his favorite chair watching westerns.

He was a past member of the Sycamore Sportsman Club, Kishwaukee Heritage Society, Rockford Model A Club,and took many tours with the Mayflower Tour Group. He was an active member of the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club.

Jim is survived by the love of his life Bonnie Justis, daughters Tina Munk (Sycamore,IL) Kellee and Roger Clarke (College Station, TX), Jamie and Dan Marcinkowski (Sycamore, IL); his 6 grandchildren Colise, Justin, Joshua, Brienne, McKenna and James;  9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his sister.

His visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 17th from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home in Genoa.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, Nov. 18th at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church 33930 N. State Road, Genoa, IL. with a visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM.   A luncheon will follow the service.
