James C. Beightley , 77, of Dekalb, passed away Wednesday morning at Bethany Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

He was born on November 2, 1947 in Rockford, Illinois. He was the son of Myron and Winifred (Hendrick's) Beightley. James married Sherry Mulock on February 11, 1975. He is survived by his daughter Jonelle Beightley; stepdaughter Simone (Robert) Hess; grandchildren Tara (Robert) Rehak, Jenna (Tyler) Penny; great grandchildren Taylor, Bobby, Owen Rehak, Lorelei (little penny), Paisley (two-cent) and Jolei (little nickel) Penny; siblings, Jeff Beightley, Peter (Diane) Beightley, and Michelle (Ken Rundle) Beightley.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Beightley; parents, Myron and Winifred Beightley; siblings, Leslie Birkholtz, Jane Kepner, Lydia Escobar, and Andrea Sharp.

James attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Serving Jehovah and participating in the preaching work was of upmost importance to him. He also truly enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his great grandchildren. James would make multiple trips to the store each week just to grab the best fruit and treats for them.  James also loved the outdoors.  He created many memories camping and fishing at Shabbona Lake. Camping, fishing, baseball, cooking and listening to music were among his favorite hobbies. He is loved and missed deeply.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 22nd at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 13867 Barber Greene Rd., Sycamore, IL 60178.
