Jacqueline (Jackie) R. Bennett, 91, of Genoa died July 19, 2026 at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.

She was born on August 13, 1934 in Oelwein, IA. to Allen and Gwendolyn (Lantz) Mason.  She was married to Milton Bennett.  After his death and later in life she had a special friend, Jim Roof who preceded her in death.

Jackie was the police dispatcher for the Genoa Police Department for many years working out of her home.  She also worked for at the Genoa Newspaper- typing and writing many community stories and ran a pet store at her home.  But most of all, Jackie was a loving and devoted mother and dear friend to many people. Jackie was an Alderwoman for the City of Genoa (winning by a write-in vote).

Survivors include her son, Scott Bennett; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister, Caryl Williams; her brother, Allen (Jackie) Mason, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Penny Sue Bennett and her siblings, Joan Bennett, Frank Mason, Douglas Mason and Lynn Alsup.

Her memorial visitation will be on Thursday, July 23rd from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main Street, Genoa, IL.   A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Gary Roca officiating.   Burial will follow at the Genoa Twp. Cemetery.
