Jacqueline Merrick, lovingly known as Jacque, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 47 on December 26, 2023, due to complications from a blood clot in her lung.

Born on January 26th, 1976, Jacque faced life's trials with an infectious laugh and an indomitable spirit that adapted to change.

Devonte, Jaynon and Lilly, her beloved children, were the heart and soul of Jacque's world.  Despite the hardships she endured, Jacque raised her three children as a single mother, navigating homelessness and poverty with unparalleled strength.  Her sacrifices were a testament to the boundless love she had for her family.

Jacque was a lone wolf socially, but the friendships she cultivated held a special place in her heart.  To those she considered family, Jacque offered absolute loyalty and unwavering support.  She was a pillar of strength for her friends, willing to do anything to ensure their well-being.  Jacque treated everyone with kindness, regardless of their background or the color of their skin.  She saw the humanity in each person, approaching life with love and care.

Jacque is also survived by her mother, Penny Merrick, her brother Steve (Cathy) Merrick, niece's Rachael (Spencer) Gohl and Taylor (Michael) Merrick, nephew John (Taira) Merrick, cousins Jennifer Flaska and Christopher (Ashley) Flaska and aunt and uncle Ronald and Marlene Flaska.

She was preceded in death by her father Michael G. Merrick, grandparents Robert and Evelyn Flaska, aunt and uncle Sherry and Jim Stanek and grandmother Manon Merrick.

A memorial service to celebrate Jacque's extraordinary life will be held on March 30th at Faranda's at The Lincoln Inn, 302 Grove Street, DeKalb, IL from 1:00-4:00 pm.
