Herman Gene Brock, 89, of Sycamore, IL. died August 24, 2023 at Lincolnshire Place in Sycamore, IL.

He was born May 14, 1934 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Benjamin and Luna (Stough) Brock.

He married Helen Grace Smith on May 5, 1956 in Tucson, AZ, where they met while Gene was stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base.  Gene and Helen celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on May 5, 2023.

Gene served honorably for 10 years as a Military Police Officer in the Air Force and served in the Korean War.

Gene worked in retail sales management, television and appliance repair for many years.  Most recently he retired from the Sycamore School District in 2010 where he was proudly employed as a bus driver for 15 years.  He enjoyed transporting the kids to and from school and many sporting events and field trips.

Gene is survived by his wife, Helen Brock (Smith) of Sycamore, IL; two daughters, Linda Baker and Deborah (Dennis) Jewett, both of Sycamore, IL; four grandchildren, Bryan Jenkins of Lake Mary, FL, Chad (Tiffany) Jewett of Sycamore, IL, David Jewett of Sycamore, IL and Christy (Chad) Knutson of Somonauk, IL; six great grandchildren, Jaden Jewett (18) of Tucson, AZ, Connor Knutson (13) and Kendall Knutson (9) of Somonauk, IL, Quintin Jewett (13) and Kadience (9) of Sycamore, IL, Iliana Jenkins (10) of Lake Mary, FL; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Brock and Luna (Stough) Brock of  Blytheville, AK and his brother, Dan Brock of White Pigeon, MI.

His visitation will be on Saturday, September 16th from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. 60178.  A memorial service (Celebration of Life)  will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
