Obituary

Grant Hupy, 74, of Sycamore, IL. died Monday, January 18, 2021 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL.

Grant was born January 14, 1947 to the late Robert Hupy and Agnes (Dahlbeck) Hupy in Escanaba, MI.
Grant graduated from Gladstone High School in 1965.  He married Charleen Binneboese at Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, IL.  on August 27, 1966.  After Grant's Army service, they resided in Gladstone, MI for 38 years until his retirement to Sycamore, IL.  Grant started working in the family Insurance Agency that he later purchased from his dad.
In his spare time, Grant was a avid reader of history and mysteries.  He served on the Gladstone and Upper Pennisula library boards.  In Sycamore, he was a member of the funeral luncheon committee at Salem Lutheran Church and was a supporter of the food pantry- there as a shopper.
Grant's favorite things were being with his family for holidays, birthdays and the "grands" extra curricular events- be it music, sports or dance.  These were even better if there was a concession stand with popcorn.
Grant and Char loved to travel and were able to visit all seven continents.  Their winter trips to the Big Island of Hawaii was always the highlight of their winters.
Grant will be remembered for the friends he met for coffee and also his "Friday night fine dining club".  Any place for a fish fry.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Charleen; daughter, Janeen (Joe) Edwards of Sycamore; daughter-in-law, Mary Eileen Hupy of Burlington, WI.; sisters, Sally (Bruce) Closser, of Marquette, MI. and Jane (Charles) Johnston of Grand Blanc, MI.; brother, Craig (Marie Lemmer) Hupy of Ypsilanti, MI.; grandchildren, Quinn, Erin and Shea Hupy and Mitchel and Nolan Edwards; his aunt, Jahne Hupy of Stonington, MI.; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Brent.
A private funeral will be held with a Celebration of Life to take place post Covid this summer.
