Grace Marie Vega, 57, of Genoa, died peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born May 17, 1965 in Rockford, Illinois. She married Inocencio Vega on February 4, 1986, and they lived together in Elgin for 10 years then relocated to Genoa where they lived for 27 years.

Grace is survived by her husband, Inocencio; their three children, Erica Vega, Michael Vega and Natalie Vega; three siblings, Christopher (Heidi) Usrey, Lou Ann Nevarez and Marianne (Luis) Nevarez; two uncles, John (Jean) Manis and Charles (Christine) Manis; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Lucille Manis, mother Mary Nevarez and granddaughter Dakota Coleman.

Grace attended St. Catherine of Genoa and was a faithful Catholic. She was a proud mother, devoted sister and loving wife.

She ran the shipping department at a factory in South Elgin for 39 years. Grace enjoyed crocheting, listening to music and family gatherings for the holidays. She was the matriarch of the family and will be deeply missed.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 2 at 10:00 am at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, IL., with Rev. Zdzislaw Francis Wawryszuk officiating. Burial will be at St. Catherine Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 1 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.
