Gary D. Koerner, 79, of Genoa died on June 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in 1943 to Arthur and Ruth (Mitchell) Koerner.  He married Bonnie Smetana on June 6, 1964.

Gary was a graduate of Northern Illinois University in 1966.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from Nov 66- Aug 70.

He was employed at DeKalb AG from 1970-1999 as a Controller.  He found enjoyment in gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Genoa.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; his children, Jeff (Caroline) Koerner, Heather Lambdin and Tiffany (Mark) Jozwiak; several grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services for Gary will be private.  Burial will be at the Genoa Cemetery- Busse Addition at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the DeKalb County Forest Preserve or Trinity Lutheran Church of Genoa in care of the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL. 60135.
