Frank Van Son died Tuesday, on August 30, 2022 at the memorable age of 100.
Frank survived his son Daryl who died in 2019. He was a steadfast, loving and devoted husband to Ann, his wife of 41 years.
They began their adventure together as Frank was beginning his retirement. He was a long-term executive at Nestle Company and loved to eat chocolate daily. Travel, church activities, long time friendships and a move to Genoa, IL kept them busy and happy throughout their romance. Ann was the love of his life and he cherished every minute they spent together. Frank had a story, joke and twinkle in his eye for any and all.
Growing up during the depression, serving in five campaigns in WWII, including the Battle of the Bulge, and representing to the fullest the "Greatest Generation", Frank will long be remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of spending even a few minutes with him. His patriotism, zest for life and love for Ann defined who he was. He was often referred to as a "very distinguished gentleman". He was that and so much more. For those who knew him, 100 years simply was not enough.
His visitation will be held on Friday, September 9th from 9:30-10:30 AM at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, IL. A funeral mass will begin at 10:30 AM with Fr. Donald Ahles officiating.
Burial will follow the mass at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Genoa.
