Frances L.
Vincent
Aug 30, 1944 — Dec 27, 2024
Frances L. Vincent, 80, of Sycamore, died December 27, 2024, at her home. Frances truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive, as her generosity knew no bounds. She was always eager to help her friends.
She was born on August 30, 1944, in Charlotte, NC, to Harrison R. and Lottie L. (Isenhour) Brooks. Her family relocated to Highland, Indiana, in her early teens. It was there that she met and married Thomas Wilke Vincent on October 22, 1962.
Frances retired from Northern Illinois University. Her love of cooking and taking care of others was put to good use in their food service department. She especially loved to craft desserts for the kids in the dorms.
Frances' greatest hobbies were shopping and baking, especially when she was doing these things for others. She and her lifelong friend Jan Miller would spend hours baking and decorating cakes for friends and family. She also especially loved entertaining. For over 20 years she hosted a group of friends and family on Christmas Eve. Throughout the day people would stop in and visit, eat, and just generally relax.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Christine) Vincent and Shannon (Charley) Ruh; her beloved grandson, Taylor Ruh (Kay Diller); great-grandson Ruh, expected in April; sisters-in-law, Christine King and Frankie Sue White; brother-in-law, T.R. Vincent; friend and companion, Matt Barsic; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Vincent; parents, Harrison and Lottie; her sisters, Betty and Connie; and brothers, Archie and Julius.
Her visitation will be on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 PM
Burial will be private at the River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.
