Obituary

On Thursday, July 28th, 2022, Erik Verwer Hansen, loving brother, uncle, godfather, and son, passed away at the age of 35.
Erik was born on March 16th, 1987 in Wheaton, IL to Gerald and Ilse Hansen.
Erik had a passion for living life to the fullest. He loved to play golf, and softball, and to push himself physically while working out always trying to set new personal records in lifting. Erik could often be found challenging people to feats of strength or being overly competitive in just about everything he ever did, like who could hit the longest drive in golf, or challenging people to pull-up contests (especially against his younger brother Kristopher). He was known for being one of the funniest people around and would make everyone laugh around him. He had a big heart and with that heart he loved animals, Erik had two cats Kiwi and Bruce, and he loved them like they were his own children. Erik would often be found in his beloved Cat Dad hat.  It was that big heart that his friends and family all loved, Erik would do anything for his friends, his family, and his precious cats. Erik will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his father Gerald, his brother Kristopher, and his sister Lisa.
Erik was preceded in death by his mother, Ilse.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 Dekalb Ave, Sycamore IL.
