She was born on Nov. 9, 1931 in rural DeKalb to Claude and Edith (Larson) Griswold.  She married Eugene T. Carroll in August of 1953.

Elaine was a faithful member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Genoa.  She was employed at AG Communications in Genoa retiring after many years of service.  After her retirement, she worked at Art and Alma's Restaurant in Burlington, IL.

Survivors include her 3 children, Jeff Carroll, Rhonda (Jim) Johnson and Lisa Carroll; 4 grandchildren, Stefanie (Brian) Mueller, Kelsey Morgan (Chris Ehorn), Callie Johnson (Jose Bonilla) and Donald J. Johnson (Daphne Vassmer); 7 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jackson, Jayci, Tristan, Savannah, Tyler and Gabriel; her loving family, Glennis Carroll, Laurin and Rosemary Carroll, Russell Carroll, Ellen Carroll and Sharon Carroll; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2011; sister, Marilyn (George) Barton; brothers, Lyle (Marlyn) Griswold, Merrill "Bud" (Peggy) Griswold and Morris (Ruby) Griswold; her in-laws, John "Jack" (Fern) Carroll, David Carroll, Bernadette Carroll, Douglas Carroll and Harvey Carroll.

Her visitation will be on Sunday, Dec. 5th from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL.   Her funeral service will begin at 5:00 PM.

A graveside service will be on Monday, Dec. 6th at 1:00 PM at the Genoa Cemetery.
