Eilene Betty
Jensen
May 29, 1928 — Jul 20, 2021
Eilene B Jensen, 93, of rural Wasco, passed away July 20, 2021.
Eilene Betty Murphy was born May 9, 1928 in Mystic, Iowa, and lived there with her maternal Grandmother, Ellen Ross, until she was twelve, and always told what happy memories she had of her childhood. She came to Illinois, lived in Hinsdale with her parents, Elroy and Irene Beisner, and then moved to Hampshire, attending Hampshire High School and graduating in 1945.
She moved to Genoa after graduation and worked at Oster Mfg., and several other office positions. She became the bookkeeper and partswoman for Koch Int'l Harvester dealership in 1951 until Mr. Koch retired in 1964. Sheahan Equipment (Int'l Harvester) opened in Sycamore and Eilene transferred there as bookkeeper and office manager. She knew all the farmers in the area and could recall many great stories of them. During these years she developed a love of attending auctions, flea markets, etc., looking for old linens. She started a business "Linens of the Past" where she would purchase, restore and then sell old linens at the Kane County Flea Market. She had many repeat customers from all across the United States.
Eilene married Bruce Jensen November 10, 1972, and they lived in rural Wasco for almost forty-nine years.
Eilene was an advocate for all animals and was involved in many of the Kane County animal organizations. She always had dogs and cats and these last eight years her two cats, Katie and Puddin, brought her a great deal of joy. Feeding and watching the outside birds was also a favorite pastime.
In her late sixties Eilene started attending classes and doing workouts at the Delnor Health Center, became an enthusiastic supporter of this way of life, and developed a very strong body which contributed to her long life. She had many health issues over the years but was always able to "bounce back" until the last months. A special thanks to all of her doctors, caregivers and Unity Hospice.
Eilene was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, and "adopted" sister, Katharine Weaver, niece Kristina Weaver and nephew Richard Weaver.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" service Sunday, August 22, 2021, at 4:00 PM, at the Campton Hills Community Center, 5N082 Old LaFox Road, Wasco, IL.
She was cremated and her remains will be buried at the Genoa Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to your favorite animal organization, Elburn Paramedics, 200 East Rte 38, Elburn, IL 60119 or Unity Hospice, 915 N Caron Rd, Rochelle, IL 61068.
