Obituary

Dorothy  A.  Krafft, 59, of Sycamore went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones

She was born February 19, 1961 in Evanston to Theodore and Genevieve Skowron.  She went to St. Paul of Cross from First Grade to Eighth Grade where she made so many lifelong friends. She went to Main South High School, Elmhurst College for her Bachelor's Degree and then went to St. Francis to get her Nursing Degree.

She married  Andrew J. Krafft on April 24, 1993, in Roselle, IL and moved to Sycamore, IL in 1997 where they made a life for themselves and their two children. In June of 1994, Savanah Jean was born and in October of 1996, Andrew Theodore was born.

Dorothy was an avid Cubs fan, never missing a game and often working both her jobs then going to cheer on her Cubbies. She went to at least 1-2 games every week and couldn't wait until she could see that W fly and she could sing her favorite song "Go Cubs Go." She watched every game whether it be on tv, listening to it on the radio or keeping up with the scores from her friends. She was on cloud 9 when the Cubs won the  World Series in 2016.

When Dorothy graduated with her Nursing Degree she took a job at Elmhurst Hospital where she worked for over 15 years. She loved the hospital so much her two children were born there. She ended her career working at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora, IL and Midlands Surgical Center in Sycamore, IL. Her work ethic, dedication to the patients, loving and compassionate personality made her a phenomenal nurse who was loved by so many.

Dorothy was a bright light and had a laugh that was contagious and a smile that could make anyone feel welcome. She would talk to anyone and everyone and had open arms for all.  In December of 2018 when she got diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer she immediately began putting together her fight plan and wasn't about to back down. She fought a tough battle for 19 months and did it with endless courage and strength.

Survivors include her husband, Andy; daughter, Savanah (Marc Vargas); son, Andrew; Mother, Genevieve; and her siblings.

She is preceded in death by her father, Theodore; her Mother-in-law, Catherine Krafft, Father-in-law, Andrew Krafft.

Her private funeral mass will be on Monday, June 22nd at the Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman St., Sycamore, IL. with Fr. Carl Beekman officiating.
