Donna Mae Dreska Lane, 97, left to dance joyfully with Jesus on October 16, 2025. She was in her home surrounded by her loving family and a host of angels.
Donna was always deeply Christian, extremely tender-hearted, richly loving, and a true and faithful servant of God. She was born on January 27, 1928, in DeKalb, IL, to Stanley and Grace (Homan) Dreska. She graduated from a three-year nursing program at Little Company of Mary in Evergreen Park, IL.
Donna married Lester John Lane, Jr. of Sycamore, IL, on September 16, 1950, at St Mary's Church in DeKalb. Together, they had six children. She worked as a surgical nurse at the DeKalb Clinic, the DeKalb Public Hospital, and Kishwaukee Community Hospital from 1950 until her retirement in 1990.
Donna is survived by four of her children: Debbie (Ron) Kerwin, Dore K Lane, Kathy (Ken) Whitney, and Paula (Chad) Ruff; her sister, Bonnie Kennedy; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her son, Jeffrey; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Sabel; her parents, Stanley and Grace; her sister and brother-in-law, Geri and Herman Wells; and 2 nephews.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at St. Mary's Church, 244 Waterman Street in Sycamore.
The funeral mass will begin at 11:30 AM at St Mary's Church in Sycamore. A funeral procession will follow to Mt Carmel Cemetery for a brief internment service.
A luncheon and time for fellowship will follow the burial at the Parish Activity Center of the St. Mary Church in Sycamore.
