Donald C. Tyrrell, Jr., 71, of Sycamore passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 26, 1951 in Sycamore to Donald C. and Helen (Petersen) Tyrrell, Sr. Don married Debbie Ridulph in 1978 and they enjoyed 43 years together. Don worked as a cable splicer for Frontier (formerly Contel, GTE, and Verizon) for many years.
Don is survived by his wife, Debbie; two children, Jessica and Steven Tyrrell; siblings Kathy Viollt, Debbie (Steve) Champeny, James (Tammy) Tyrrell, and Suzie (Glen) Underwood; his sister-in-law, Jodi Tyrrell; granddaughter, Lyla; nieces and nephews Jason, Sarah, Anne, Melanie, Aaron, Jimmy, Samantha, Timothy "TJ", and Kevin; and aunt, Della Cardinali. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph; and his brother-in-law, Michael Viollt.
Don was an avid outdoorsmen and loved hunting and fishing with his Dad, brothers, children, and nephews. He enjoyed bird and squirrel watching from his home and taking care of his yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and traveling.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and ICU nurses at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital for the loving care and compassion that was given to Donald and his grieving family.
No services have been planned. Cremation will take place at Butala Funeral Home and Crematory.
