Donald J. Stogsdill, 85, of Sycamore, died Saturday, July 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 8, 1940, in Woodstock, Illinois, to Donald J. and Zelda (Russie) Stogsdill. He married Michelle "Miki" McMenamin on January 12, 1963, in DeKalb, Illinois.

Don proudly served in the United States Air Force from July 1957 until July 1960. While stationed in Morocco, he served as an Air Policeman, working alongside his sentry dog, Arbo.

Following his military service, Don worked as a union glazier before founding Northern Illinois Glazing Contractors, Inc. (NIGC). He owned and operated the business for more than 20 years. Throughout his career, he took great pride in the many commercial buildings he helped construct throughout Northern Illinois.

Don enjoyed watching NASCAR races, cheering on the United States Chicago White Sox, golfing, and taking fishing trips to Canada with family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Chris Stogsdill; his granddaughter, Tasha (Joe) Sims; his great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Garrett, Sterling, and Ryleigh; his brother, William Ray Stogsdill of Kentucky; his sister, Dea Monette of Arizona; his sister-in-law, Mari (Michael) Brown; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle "Miki" Stogsdill; his parents; his son, Jeff Stogsdill; his sister, Sandra Overby; and his cousin and best friend, Gail Rankin.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at DaVita Sycamore Dialysis for the compassionate care, kindness, and friendship they showed Don over the past decade. Seeing him three times each week, they became much more than his dialysis team, they became a special part of his life. Our family will always be grateful for the dignity, support, and genuine compassion they gave him throughout the years.

Private memorial services will be held. Arrangements were completed by Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, Sycamore.
