In Loving Memory of
Dolores M. Muir
May 17, 1929 – January 29, 2026

Dolores M. Muir, our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, went home on January 29, 2026, at the age of 96. Born and raised in Chicago, Dolores grew up with a strong work ethic, a quick wit, and a deep love for family that guided her entire life. She was married to Carl A Muir from February 26, 1949 until the good lord called him home May 10, 1997.

Dolores was the devoted mother of Carl (Pam), Sharon, Billy, Darlene (Gary Hipkins), Johnny, Steven, Ronnie, Kimberly (Eddie Dombrowski), Michelle (Vince Peters), and Tammy (Jason Peters). Her heart grew with every new generation, and she adored her grandchildren: Tiffany, Leeroy, Jackie, Tommy, Lonny, Heather, Bonnie, Jennifer, Anthony, Bonnie, Johnny, Joey, Stephanie, Matthew, Steven, Tyler, Cheyenne, Preston, Jeffery, Ryan, Brittny, Eddie, Jacob, Jeremey, Taylor, Samantha, Justin, Brennan, and Kayla. She was blessed with 38 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of one more little one.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Annie, Brothers Charles, Raymond, Robert and sisters Mary, Helen and Lydia, her beloved husband Carl, her daughter Sharon and three grandchildren Jackie, Steven Tommy and her great grandson Anthony James. We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with them and watching over all of us.

Dolores worked nights at Simpson Electric in Elgin as a cleaning lady, and during the day she could be found caring for children as a lunchroom mom at Glenbrook Elementary in Streamwood. She gave her best at both jobs, not for recognition, but out of love and responsibility. After retirement, her greatest joy was helping raise her grandchildren, offering steady hands, warm meals, and the kind of guidance only a grandma can give.

She loved to shop and was always up for an adventure, especially trips to Branson, Missouri, which held a special place in her heart. Whether she was browsing the aisles for a good deal or packing for a getaway, Dolores brought energy, laughter, and a little bit of sparkle wherever she went.

To her family, Dolores was home. She was the phone call you could always make, the hug that made things better, and the steady presence at birthdays, holidays, and everyday moments in between. Her legacy lives on in the stories we tell, the traditions we carry, and the love she planted in each generation.

We will miss her voice, her humor, and her unwavering support, but we are grateful for the long, full life she shared with us. Until we meet again, she will remain forever in our hearts.

Her visitation will be on Friday, February 13th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL. with a service beginning at 4:15 PM.
