Dexter L. Hammond , 60, of Sycamore passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 22, 2021.
Dexter grew up in Sycamore Illinois, a town he loved. No matter where he was- Sycamore was his home. Dexter held several jobs throughout his working career. He was in construction as a bricklayer and also held a Barber's license . He worked in Texas and Georgia just to name a few places but he always ended up back in Sycamore! Over the years Dexter had several hobbies but one of his loves was fishing and playing with his daughter Lexi! Dex's pride and joy was his daughter, Lexi. Lexi and her Daddy spent a lot of time together. He would take her out for dinner often. He always made sure to get her a bag of candy for her and her brother's. Lexi and her Daddy had great conversations. They talked everyday, several times a day. They would have pizza and movie night. They would have swim night. They were always shopping or going to dance class. Lexie's Daddy liked to get her hair done often. Lexie's Daddy will be loved and missed forever. Dexter will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Dexter is survived by his daughter, Alexis Louise Hammond; his brother, Todd Thompson and his sister, Angie Thompson; his uncle/aunt, Larry and Sabrina Hammond and aunt Bernice Hammond. Several nieces, nephews and cousins will always remember him.
Dexter was predeceased by his mother, Betty Thompson and brother, Victor Hammond.
