Lynn Angel
Jun 14, 1957 — Jun 23, 2026
Debra "Debbie" Lynn Angel, 69, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2026.
Born on June 14, 1957, in Sycamore, Illinois, Debbie lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and devotion to her family, friends, and community. On December 14, 1979, she married the love of her life, Dave Angel, and together they built a life centered around love, hard work, and helping others.
Debbie dedicated 33 years of service to Kishwaukee Hospital before retiring in 2023. Throughout her career and retirement, she touched countless lives with her caring spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Many people knew Debbie through her passion for baking and cake decorating. Her baked goods graced countless special moments, and family gatherings were never complete without one of Debbie's homemade cakes.
Debbie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time on her front porch, watching birds, admiring her flowers, and sipping her morning coffee. She also enjoyed attending theater productions and spending time with friends. More than anything, she cherished the people around her. Whether someone needed a hot meal, a ride to an appointment, a hand to hold, or simply a listening ear, Debbie was always there. Her compassion and selflessness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Debbie is survived by her beloved husband, Dave Angel; her son, Michael Angel; her siblings, Dale Gaul, Donna Foltz, and Darrell Gaul; her stepsister, Deb Manuel; her niece, Cassie Pena; her nephews, Derrick King and Dalton Gaul; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her aunts, Marylin Adkins, Jennie Smith, and Dixie Adkins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Gaul; her father, Elmer Gaul; her stepfather, George Gibbs; her stepmother, Louise Gaul; and her parents-in-law, Robert and Marie Angel.
The countless acts of kindness Debbie shared throughout her life will continue to ripple through the lives of those she touched. Her legacy of generosity, compassion, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., also at Butala Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Greenview Cemetery, Esmond, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing a memorial fund to place a park bench at one of Debbie's favorite picnic spots, creating a place where family and friends can pause, reflect, and remember her for years to come.
