Obituary

David Craig Coovert, 38, of Sycamore, IL died peacefully Saturday, October 29, 2022 at his home after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.
He was born on March 17, 1984 in Fort Madison, IA to David Joseph Coovert and Julie (Linnenburger) Coovert.  He married Michelle Turcotte on July 12, 2008 at St. Mary Church in Sycamore, IL.
David graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, IL in 2002. He attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and graduated with a B.S. in Marketing and Sales, launching him into a successful career in software sales. He was most recently employed by SoftwareOne, where he was treated as family.
David was an avid sports enthusiast, devoted to the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals, as well as the Sycamore Spartans. His personal passion was golf, which he played whenever he could get to a course. He fulfilled a golf dream and played Pebble Beach and Spy Glass Hill this year. He loved having a good time, and could always be convinced to go to the casino. His proudest accomplishment was becoming a dad. He loved his children immensely.
David was adored by his younger siblings and loved being the best big brother ever.  He took the time to develop uniquely personal relationships with each of them.  He was passionate about music and sang with his children.  The songs of his favorite artists, Jack Johnson, Billy Joel and Steely Dan comforted him in his final days.  He could talk to anyone and was a terrific storyteller with a great laugh.  Truly a friend to all and loved by everyone, David was the best son, husband, brother, dad and friend anyone could ask for.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Michelle (Turcotte) Coovert, daughters Isabelle (5), Vienna (5), and son David (3) Coovert, parents David and Kim Coovert, brothers Daniel (McKenna) and Matthew Coovert, sisters Hope Yocum, Alison and Mia Coovert, grandparents Marilyn Coovert and Dan and Miriam Sieve, in-laws Paul and Kim Turcotte and their children Kate (Rich) Aguilera, PJ (Shannon) Turcotte and Joe (Krissy) Turcotte, grandparents in-law Bill and Cathy Clancy, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Julie (Linnenburger) Yocum, grandmother Darlene Linnenburger, uncles David Linnenburger and Mike Linnenburger and grandfather David Coovert.
His family would like to thank the medical teams and staff at Northwestern Medicine Oncology and Northern Illinois Hospice for their care and support. We would also like to thank our St. Mary School and Parish family for their love and prayers.
His visitation will be on Wednesday, Nov. 2nd from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore.
A funeral mass will be on Thursday, Nov. 3rd at 10:00 AM at the Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman St., Sycamore with Fr. William Etheredge officiating.  Burial will follow at the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore.
