Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Michael Hirsch, a real estate agent, talented cook, and handyman extraordinaire, announces his unexpectant departure from this life on December 14, 2020, at the age of 36.

Dan leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, James and Polly Hirsch; his siblings, Sarah Wheeler (Jason Wheeler); Eric Hirsch, Joanna Haydon (Caleb Haydon), and Colin Hirsch (Amy Hirsch); and his nephews, David and Samuel Wheeler.

Dan was born in Elgin, Illinois, on July 9, 1984. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic School in St. Charles, Illinois, with his siblings. Dan then enjoyed his high school years at Marmion Military Academy in Aurora, Illinois, where he was heavily involved with the football team and a member of the JROTC program. Following high school, Dan attended University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated with degrees in Accounting and Finance and a certificate in Real Estate. Dan, who quickly understood concepts and had a knack for numbers, was successful in his educational endeavors. Following his college years, Dan moved back to his hometown to start his career in real estate.

Dan was an extremely good cook and knew his way around any kitchen he was in. Following in his Grandpa Hirsch's footsteps, Dan was also a trusted handyman, fixing computers, cars and farm-related issues. Dan spent much time each summer baling hay, and he really enjoyed making relationships with, and delivering hay to, farmers throughout Northern Illinois. Dan had a gift for finding great deals, which translated well to his career as a real estate agent. Most notably, Dan successfully found and purchased distressed properties that he later fixed up for profit. Dan was born and raised a Bears fan and thoroughly enjoyed attending games in Chicago. Dan was a natural athlete, had a love for country music, which is why he was almost always wearing a pair of cowboy boots, and never turned down a steak dinner.

Dan will be remembered by his family for his boisterous voice and laugh, his kind heart, especially toward his brother, Eric, and his beloved Grandpa Hirsch, as well as his ability to recite movie lines from any and all movies.

We will celebrate Dan's life on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at St. Charles Borromeo in Hampshire, Illinois, with his visitation at 10:00 a.m., funeral service at 11:00 a.m., and burial at 12:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery.
