Daniel L. Wylde (Boone), 62, of Genoa died suddenly on January 1, 2023.
He was born on November 2, 1960 to Roland (Squeak) and Gertrude Wylde. He was a loving husband, cherished father, doting grandfather, beloved friend, adored brother and uncle, and all of his siblings agree; the favorite child.
Boone graduated from Genoa-Kingston High School in 1978, shortly after winning the football State Championship his senior year; one of his proudest moments. Along with football, Boone played basketball and baseball and later went on to enjoy coaching Jacob, Abby and Dylan's teams for many years. He even managed to win the championship in his fantasy football league this year, days after his passing.
Boone was a union laborer throughout the years before retiring as a foreman in 2015. Although he was a dedicated and hardworking man, what was most important to him was enjoying time with his family and friends. He had many hobbies that he loved to fill his time with, including; hunting, fishing, and cheering for the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox and the Genoa-Kingston Cogs. In the last couple of years Boone's life was fulfilled with building his dream and future at his "happy place" in Michigan with his wife, Cathy. His legacy continues on through his grandchildren. Those who know and love him the most will remember Boone's larger-than-life personality, smile, laugh, generosity and compassionate heart.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy; 3 children, Jacob (Natalie), Abby (Corey) Arndt, and Dylan; 2 step-daughters, Lauren (Derek) L'Huillier and Kate (Brent) Holcomb; 10 grandchildren, Levi, Tianna, Jaylynn, Grace, Miley, Evan, Piper, Bryant, Halle, and Leighton; 6 siblings, Elroy, Vicky Vosburgh, Kathy Harrolle, Jeff (Gayl), Cindy Busch (Brad), and Randy (Lisa).
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-laws Bill Vosburgh and Doug Decker, nieces Amy and Jami Harrolle, stepson Brett Kubasiak and best friend Thomas Kubasiak.
His memorial visitation will be on Thursday, January 5th from 3 to 7pm at the Butala Funeral Home, Sycamore, IL. A memorial service will begin at 7pm.
On Friday there will be a Celebration of Life at the Genoa Veterans Home at 5pm. Please wear one of Boone's favorite sports team's apparel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family to determine the recipient at a later date in care of the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL. 60135.
