Dan Francis, 70, of DeKalb, IL, died peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at his home.

He was born November 9, 1955, in Richland Center WI, to David and Marolyn Francis. He married Norma Lohman on June 16, 1984, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Harvard, IL. 

Dan graduated from Sycamore High School. He worked for the DeKalb School District for many years retiring in 2006. 

He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and collecting Star Trek memorabilia. Chocolate, whether ice cream, candy, or anything in between, was his favorite treat. He also enjoyed traveling, particularly to Duluth, Minnesota; he loved being near Lake Superior.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; siblings Jeanne Goble of Charleston, IL, Roz Francis of Chicago, Kelly Francis of Sycamore, Lori (Dave) Skonning of Montgomery, IL, Trudy (Tal) Hickey of Sycamore, and Ed Francis of Chicago; sister-in-law Loretta (Marty) Jaus of Winthrop, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and nephew Nathan Jaus.

His Celebration of Life visitation will be on Sunday, September 27th from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.
