Dakota M. Begay, 22, of Rockford formerly of Sycamore died on December 17, 2025.

He was born on June 16, 2003 in Geneva, IL. to Faron Begay and Tracy Begay.

Dakota was a graduate of Sycamore HS where he loved Art class and playing Rugby. He spent the last few years working hard at Rapid Rinse in Sycamore.

Growing up, he loved to draw and was a Lego master. He especially loved Anime and Manga. He loved to grill out and cook especially with his fiancé. He loved his mornings with a fat stack of pancakes. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, or going for a drive with no destination in mind. Dakota was a huge car enthusiast and was a big gamer that kept him in touch with his long-distance friends and little brother.

Survivors include his parents Faron Begay and Tracy (Vanderhoff) Begay, sister Tiana (Sam), brother Terron, nephew Arthur, and fiancée Vanessa whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Millie Vanderhoff and Alfred Begay.

His Celebration of Life will be at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave.,in Sycamore on Saturday, January 24th, 2026 from 2:00-6:00 PM.
