Charles (Chuck) Rexroat, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years, Marilynn, his six children and family members.  Chuck was born on January 17, 1932, in Sioux City, Iowa, to the late Cora and Clarence Rexroat.

A devoted husband, Chuck cherished his life with Marilynn, whom he married on June 7, 1958. Together, they shared over 65 years of love, laughter, and adventure. His career took them across the country where they began their family creating life-long friendships. Together, they traversed the globe, weaving a tapestry of unforgettable experiences.  They spent many unforgettable winters in Sedona among its enchanting red rock landscapes.

Chuck's family brought him immense joy, and he took pride in his role as a loving father. He loved sharing his hobbies with his family, including hunting, fishing, golf, and music. He found solace in nature and the beauty it offered.  He loved fishing in northern Minnesota and watching hummingbirds in Sedona.

Chuck was a distinguished graduate, earning accolades in accounting, finance, and economics from Morningside University and attended graduate school at the University of Nebraska. After a short career in public accounting, his professional journey led him to a successful career of more than 30 years with Contel Telephone becoming Regional President based in Sycamore, Illinois.

His military service began in 1947 with the Iowa Air National Guard and he entered the Air Force in 1951 serving as a communications specialist until 1956.  He received awards for Good Conduct and Sharpshooter.  He was proud of his own service and of his family and friends who served over the years.

Chuck's legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and the countless lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.  He is survived by his beloved wife Marilynn, his children, Lori (Rob) Mackenzie, Beth (Corey) Rexroat-Walther, Kim (George) Piraino, Jeff (Elise) Rexroat, Sandy (Jeff) Fischer, Patrick (Gigi) Rexroat, and loving grandchildren, Alex, Kathleen, Madeline (Chase), Christopher, Dominick, Gino (Alex), Trevor, Thomas, Ethan and Vivian.

Throughout his life he created many meaningful friendships.  When two of his closest friends passed he took on a fatherly role to their daughters Cherye Olmschenk and Debby Comer. He found great joy with many special friends including the Sycamore coffee group and playing harmonica with the musical group who met in his garage.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James and Harold and sister Marvis Baker.

His family is grateful for the compassionate, professional and personalized care given to him by the the staff of Oak Crest Health Center.  He expressed his gratitude several times for all of you.

He will be deeply missed by all who've had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  You have enriched our lives beyond words and your love and memory are a part of us.

Chuck's visitation will be from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, on Friday, May 10th, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Sycamore, 244 Waterman St. Sycamore, IL.  His funeral mass will follow, at 12:30 pm.  After mass, burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 1100 West State St., Sycamore, IL.  Luncheon to follow services.
